The server.cfg is executed every map change. If you want to separate things, and perhaps make it a bit cleaner, you can create a separate file in /cfg called sbox.cfg (or whatever name you want), put all of your commands in that, then put 'exec sbox' in your server.cfg. Every map change it will execute the sbox.cfg file. Creating a GMod server, no matter the game mode you want to use is done in. In this guide, we will help you to install DarkRP on your GMod server. You do not need to edit the configuration files to load any game content.
![]() Setting a Password on a Garry's Mod Server
Setting a password for your Garry's Mod server is done by editing the
server.cfg file, which is located in the folder garrysmod/cfg
Click on file manager on the left side of the Nodecraft server control panel, click on the the folder
garrysmod , and then on the folder cfg .
Locate the file
server.cfg , click the blue box to the left of the file name, and then click the button edit that appears at the top of the file manager window.
After you select the
server.cfg file, and click edit, you will see the following.
Normally this file is 'empty' (with only three numbered lines on the left side), with no settings visible (unless you have already added some).
On the first empty line, add the following text:
![]()
replace
PASSWORD with the password you want to set for your server. The text must be between quotes.
Click save in the upper right corner of the file manager, and restart the server for these changes to take place.
